UFC 108: After the Bell

Just finished watching UFC 108 and it was not a disappoint though the main event did not live up to its hype, I really liked the undercards.

Not a Good Start for the Lauzon brothers

Both Lauzon siblings did not get a W tonight and is probably a sign for them that they have 363 days more to prove eveyone wrong and move up in ranks in their respective weight classes. Kudos to Joe for an impressive 3 round battle with Stout just that Stout came out the better fighter tonight. Was Shawn Thompkins his missing link?

Dos Santos did not Disappoint

Junior “Cigano” Dos Santos never disappoints and I was really excited about their match up. It was an all stand up game which ended in a brutal knock down. Well it was just a knock down really as Yvel can still fight as we saw in the replay, but fighter’s safety is priority. There was a point that he dropped an elbow into the canvass that probably made the referee think that he was out but was actually just positioning for the defense. Impressive win by Cigano!

I see Cigano wearing the Heavyweight Belt in the near future.

Paul Daley crushes Mclovin

I really loved that Mclovin parody with Hazelett since I watched super bad and Mclovin was cool. Though I really felt that Hazelett’s enemy was himself tonight. Either he wanted to prove to much or just did not confide in his strengths. Brutal knockout by Daley, though he got crazy afterwards and was probably advised by his mates that it did not look good hence he apologized afterwards. Getting a knockout will make you feel crazy, but always remember that respect should always be there since you are a martial artist.

Evans romanced Silva

Evans groped his way into a decision victory with Brazilian brawler Thiago Silva. The fight in my opinion did not live to its hype and if you watched it, you now why  Evans fought the way he did. Greg Jackson’s camp has good mental training and probably it was about facing your weakness, accepting it and replace it with your strength.

Evans has a weak chin, and we saw that late in the 3rd round. It was actually foolish for Thiago to act like he did rather than just finishing the fight. But Thiago as he did his antics probably will mess with Rashad’s mental afterwards. He was like, “Hey Rashad, you can’t bang and your chin is weak, you won the decision but everyone knows who the stronger man is”

Rampage will probably laugh his butt off with Tiki after seeing Rashad doing the fish dance! Silva humiliated Evans in the 3rd round, and all you can remember in the 1st and 2nd rounds are points (Evans getting the takedown, not doing much damage, Silva standing up, Evans taking him down.) I really thought Evans groped his way into this fight and when the time to exchange comes, he bailed out after feeling out Silva’s brawler power.

Congratulations still to Mr. Evans, though I must say I was disappointed. I expected the new year show with a bang just to end up with what transpired. I predicted that you would have won in classic Chuck Liddell fashion. Everyone knows Silva has a temper and all you needed to do was frustrate him and then bang with that overhand. I predicted a KTFO for Rashad. I hope that Rashad gets back into contention and getting his confidence back in his hands. He looks perfect with his hands and take downs.

Just thought you should thought Silva a lesson, now its him who’s going to be heads high whenever you 2 meet. We always forget that in fighting, its not just about points and the W, it was always about who is the best and the strongest.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Thiago Silva vs Rashad Evans

Intruiging fight coming up on the 2nd of January as UFC start 2010 with a Bang! Well the card isn’t of much jam packed with UFC superstars but from the card they lined up they made sure that the main event will end with a BANG!

Thiago is an explosive fighter who takes the fight to his opponents. We have seen it from his former victims where it usually ends with referee stoppage or KO. Silva is aiming to get back into contention and is very hungry for a win specially with a former UFC champ in the likes of Rashad Evans.

Thiago Silva, an American Top Team fighter recently disposed of a greg jackson product in the form of Keith Jardine. This is actually the angle where they want to start the hype with as Rashad says he’s angry with Silva for knocking the F*** out of his friend and team mate Keith Jardine. With his name on the line, a win with Rashad will definitely bring him back into title contention with the winner of the Shogun-Machida rematch.

Rashad Evans on the other hand trains at Greg Jackson with produce with the likes of George St. Pierre and Keith Jardine. Greg Jackson has an outstanding training camp where he develops these fighters into excellence. Evans can be remembered when he won the TUF competition heavyweights before and started a run at the UFC with knockouts and notable wins. Evans then dropped to light heavyweight where his size is more common and where probably he can deal more damage to his opponents.

His success at light heavyweight came to a draw with Tito Ortiz back then but continued his undefeated streak until he got the chance to fight for the championship against fellow TUF winner Forrest Griffin. Evans won his first title but was immediately dethrone with the now controversial and elusive Lyoto Machida.

Evans wants revenge, and its now that he proves if he belongs in the elite light heavyweights in line for the title.

Both these fighters share a commonality with Lyoto Machida giving them their first loss in their respective careers. Thiago already rebounded with Keith Jardine, will Rashad rebound with Thiago or Silva regaining his site with the light heavyweight belt.

Rashad vs Thiago will be exciting as both these guys are finishers. Thiago comes in and Rashad counters…. lets just wait and see whoever gets the best of who.

In my personal opinion I would like Thiago to win, but stylistically, I see Rashad Evans KTFO Silva which will be added in his highlight reel.

Evans by KO on round 2.
