The Kimbo Show is Over

Finally TUF 10 is over and all I can say is that Nelson probably had it in the bag the first day he came in. Lets face it, aside from Kimbo, and a few others, there really wasn’t much into the line up of TUF 10 – Heavyweights. Why did I say that is because a lot of fighters were Ex-NFL players which are probably athletic and all but lets face it, a fighter is really different and it takes years before a fighter becomes who he is and get comfortable in the game.
Roy Nelson as The Ultimate Fighter 10 is no surprise at all. His first dismantlement of the show draw getter was the predicament that he can go through this till the end. Since the UFC probably did not expect this, it was supposed to be all about Kimbo. But when he lost, they still shifted it to be about Kimbo anyways. Hence I called it, The Kimbo Show. There was no episode not climacting a possible Kimbo return.
The roster was for me not that good and for an Ex-NFL’er going to the finale makes it probably worst. Nothing against Schaub, he looks like he is going to be a great fighter with good stand up and jiujitsu but lets face it, experience wise, he was of no match to the Big Country.
So little that we may know that it was going to be all along, the Big Country show where Nelson sweeps everyone. It is just in my honest opinion that if they threw in Big Country in the midst of everything, it would have been better if it was a come-back show for heavyweights that are now scarcing wins in their roster. Crocop for instance can use a promotion like TUF for his run at the title. And so is Assuero Silva if he is still with the UFC. Get my point, Nelson shouldn’t have been in that list. He should have debuted his UFC fight similar to what Big Ben Rothwell did, with the Tigers!
But if Big Nelson wasn’t around, who would probably be there to become the main challenge for Kimbo. And it all boils down back to Kimbo. Probably, just my thoughts, UFC thought Kimbo could KTFO Nelson since he was a striker and Nelson just got man handled by Arlovski. And beating Nelson would be a real big statement for our bearded friend. But its a fight and all the management can do is control how fights are matched but not how fights end. Hence the diminishing of Kimbo’s Bad ass image was all the that TUF did. Even in the finale, Kimbo was like an underdog in the fight and no one was like, man this dude can punch. He finally gets his chance to fight and he bailed. Has its pros and cons of course, but his image has now been flushed down the toilet. For an MMA guy like me, Kimbo now seems to be just like any fighter. Got nothing more to prove I guess. I am a fan don’t get me wrong. I like it when people are drawn to him and how he shows his bad ass attitude. But for now, Kimbo will just be kimbo until proven that he is more.
Shows over and I guess it has its ups and downs for Kimbo. Great finale though huge upset with the Johnson DQ.
